Abstract

This study investigates the Qur’an’s guidance on parenting and child development, emphasising its enduring relevance in addressing contemporary challenges. Drawing upon key teachings, particularly from Surah Luqman, the research outlines foundational principles for effective parenting, including nurturing faith, instilling moral values, and fostering emotional intelligence. The study categorises child development into distinct stages, each requiring tailored approaches rooted in Islamic teachings to support spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth. Contemporary challenges faced by Muslim parents are explored, including the need to balance traditional values with modern realities, address cultural practices that conflict with Islamic principles, and navigate the pervasive influence of technology and media. The research underscores the importance of integrating Islamic teachings with insights from contemporary child psychology, offering practical recommendations for enhancing parenting strategies. The findings highlight the timeless relevance of Qur’anic teachings in fostering responsible, compassionate, and spiritually grounded individuals while equipping parents to adapt to modern complexities. Recommendations include structured parental education programmes, the development of Islamic parenting resources, and the establishment of support networks to aid families in implementing these principles effectively.
